President's Message

President's Message

Dear IAMA members,

As your new president of IAMA this year, I wish you all a happy new year. In the tradition of IAMA I will work with my executive committee and your support to have another wonderful year for our members, their families and friends.

This year I would like to see our memberships grow in large numbers as new members are needed for any organization to survive and thrive. I hope you will all encourage your colleagues to help us in that effort. Membership registration can be easily done on the web at IAMAILL.org.  A larger membership will have a stronger voice in dealing with the changing health care issues we face today and in the future.

IAMA will continue to have Educational Medical Seminars once every month for its membership. In these days of financial crunch there are still some pharmaceutical companies that are willing to sponsor these meetings for the benefit of our physicians. Since the pharmaceutical companies have limited number of seating, RSVP in a timely fashion will be required for these meetings to help our organizers better serve you. We will continue to hold Community Health Seminars for the nonphysicians in our communities at churches, temples and community centers.

Our Annual CME Tour this year will be to Switzerland in July. I hope you will respond positively to this event and enjoy with us the green valleys and mountains of Switzerland this summer.

This year the Semiannual IAMACF Fund Raiser banquet is scheduled in April. This is done annually to raise moneys for our free clinic on Peterson Avenue, Chicago which serves the indigenous people of our committee with the help of voluntary services of our physicians, pharmacists, medical students and ancillary staff. The clinic is open three times a week. I encourage and implore physicians in primary care and medical specialties to devote at least a day or two this year to help out at the clinic. The Charitable clinic is our flagship and we are ever so proud to be able to serve the public through its presence.

Our Annual Golf Outing will be scheduled for August. Last year we had a great attendance from the golf lovers among us who thoroughly enjoyed the pristine golf grounds followed by dinner and awards.

As usual we will have our Golden Stethoscope Award Meeting in September where we encourage medical students and residents to present posters on their research topics. Awards for the best posters are presented at the IAMA annual meeting where we honor our awardees.

The IAMA Annual Banquet will be in November. We plan to have a great Gala this year and encourage all of you to attend and enjoy the event.

Hoping for a brilliant year with all of you!

Sincerely,

Aruna Vade, MD
