Charitable Foundation
The Charitable foundation of IAMA operates a free health clinic at 2645 W. Peterson Avenue in Chicago. The clinic provides basic primary health care, preventive medical care and public health education to patients. From time to time health care research is conducted at the clinic. The clinic is also committed to provide community health care education and hands on training to the medical students and residents. The primary care services include medical checkup, laboratory work up and free medications. These services are provided without regard to nationality, religion, ethnicity, gender or race of the patient.
The clinic has been providing the services for more than 3,000 patients every year. The clinic is open from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturdays and Sundays and 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesdays. The Saturday clinic is run by the New Volunteer Society, a medical student organization, under the supervision of an attending physician. On Sundays, patients are seen by the medical students and residents, again under the watchful eye of an attending physician. On Wednesdays, patients are seen by an attending physician. All attending physicians, residents and medical students are volunteers.
The future goals of the clinic are to recruit more volunteer physicians and extend our hours of service. Eventually the clinic hopes to provide some specialty services including dental care.
